National Highway Status to Hyderabad - Srisailam Road

Under the proposal, a national highway from Hyderabad to Nandyal via Srisailam and Atmakur covering a distance of 330 km, from Guntur to Cumbhum, Giddalur, Nandyal, Banaganapalle, Tadipatri, Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi and Kodur, and a new national highway linking NH-5 and NH-7 covering a distance of 530 km will be taken up.
The proposals relating to a national highway from Adilabad to Vodarevu via Chilakaluripet at a distance of 650 km; another NH from Sironcha in Maharashtra to Renigunta via Kaleswaram, Mahadevpur, Warangal, Chalakurthy, Nagarjunasagar, Addanki and Venkatagiri up to a distance of 750 km; and a national highway from Kakinada to Suryapet via Rajahmundry, Kovvur, Sattupalle and Khammam for a distance of 300 km were submitted to the Centre.

The State Government on monday decided to propose upgrading five state highways to national highways. The chief minister, Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, will take up the issue with planning commission during his forth coming visit to Delhi. The state highways, which are proposed to be upgraded are: Hyderabad - Nandyal (Via Srisailam, 354 Kms), Guntur-Kodur (530 Kms), Adilabad-Vodarevu (630 Kms), Sironcha-Renigunta (725 Kms) and the Kakinada-Suryapeta (300 Kms)
